Kathrina Lucasan
Kathrina worked as a Program Director at the Wordlab School, the only primary school that catered to children with dyslexia, ADHD and other learning disabilities in Philippines. She was a classroom and one-to-one teacher for the first three years and was an assessor and Program Director for English and Special Subjects for the preceding year. Kathrina worked within a school environment that treated each subject as a reading class, with the goal of eliciting a genuine love for reading. The multisensory method of teaching was then used to teach spelling and reading. Kathrina was trained to formulate a program tailored specifically for each child’s strengths and needs.
During her stay with the school, Kathrina conducted many workshops to parents, trained newly hired teachers and headed the English Week Committee for two years. She was also part of the marketing committee and demonstrated a lesson for the 1st Pan-Asian Conference on Learning Difficulties.
Kathrina was part of a regular international school for a year. She taught various subjects at the primary level and was the co-moderator of the art club. It was here where she discovered that, at this point in her life, she preferred the challenge and thrill of working with kids with different learning needs.
